  • Turn off lights when you are not in a room or when they are not really needed
  • Turn appliances off when not in use - turning them off at the wall makes an even bigger difference
  • Adjust the thermostat on your air-conditioning to 26 degrees - even better, open the windows & doors and turn on a fan instead
  • Start a compost heap or worm farm for your organic waste - you'll be amazed at how your rubbish bin (doesn't) smell!
  • Purchase energy efficient appliances - look for the star rating
  • Install a AAA rated showerhead and dual flush toilet - there are rebates for this
  • Install insulation in your ceiling or if you have insulation, add more
  • Shade your westerly windows to stop that harsh afternoon sun
  • Take shorter showers & shower with a friend - this saves energy and water
