Commercial Recreation Activity is any activity conducted wholly or partially for the purpose of sport, entertainment, education, tourism or recreation in the Cairns area which is carried out on a commercial basis on public or Council owned land. Examples of commercial recreation activities include rafting tours on the Barron River or walking tours at Babinda Boulders.
A person must not operate a commercial recreation activity upon public land without first obtaining an approval from Cairns City Council under its Local Law No 27 (Commercial Recreation Activities. Consolidated Version. GAZETTED 10/12/2004).
