Cairns Regional Council, under direction of the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, conducts Australian Citizenship Ceremonies each month for registered applicants.

Only the Mayor or the Mayor's nominee can be delegated the authority to perform these special duties under the Act.  All new citizens are presented with a signed certificate, a native tree, and a photographic memento.  Visit Frequently Asked Questions for more information.
