Cairns City Council adopted a five-year Corporate Plan - Future Cairns - in June 2004. The Plan covers the period 2004-2009 and focuses on the triple bottom line of environment, community and economy.
Future Cairns is a long-term planning document that sets out key goals and related strategies that will assist the city in its quest to achieve its vision - "Cairns will be the best regional city in Australia and the Asia Pacific." Future Cairns focuses on ten key goals for the community that were identified following a review of the Cairns environment and an assessment of the major changes that are either likely to occur or need to occur in the future.
Reports on Council's performance in implementing the Corporate Plan are prepared regularly in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993, and results are also published each year in Council's Annual Report.
