This page is sourced from the former Cairns City Council website. For more information, click here. Welcome to the "Partnership Cairns" web page, an opportunity to become better acquainted with this highly successful former Cairns City Council initiative, and a chance to peruse the exciting projects completed thus far. At this point, Council would like to applaud the local businesses and residents who have contributed to the scheme to date, all of which are detailed in Past Projects.
There are many ways for businesses to become a "partner," as outlined in the Partnership Cairns Priority List and additionally, the Tree Dedication Scheme offers a viable alternative for residents and visitors to add their individual support for the beautification of our fair city. Please peruse the list of Cairns Regional Council Parks/Reserves available to the public for tree planting.
Cast an eye around our New Cairns today, and you'll see a city that's beginning to radiate economic confidence and civic identity. The ratepayers' dollar has helped to provide the multi-award winning Esplanade redevelopment, along with a mixed bag of major works presently in motion and worth more than $16 million.
Whilst this is tremendous news for the region, there are still many improvements that are needed, but cannot presently be covered by Council funds ... enter "Partnership Cairns" - a mechanism to drive various sectors of the business and residential community in their enhancement of the appearance of the city and its surrounds, including your own street, through sponsorship programs.
A win-win situation for Cairns people and local business, the city reaps the benefits of beautification projects at no cost to the ratepayer and the partners receive several high profile promotional opportunities and acknowledgements as good corporate citizens.
All residents and visitors to Cairns and its surrounds benefit from each and every Partnership. As the concept is further developed, the region will become a more colourful, vibrant and cared for place, and whilst these projects are managed internally by Council staff, they are driven externally at no cost to Council.
Residents and businesses can be involved in the project in several ways, such as landscaping and paving, seats and planter boxes, banners and flags, adopting a roundabout to name but a few.
